EVENT: Exit Strata August CoCo Salon
If you’ve subscribed to our email list, you probably have already heard the news about our Exit Strata August CoCo Salon this weekend, but for those of you just tuning in…
“Whence did the wond’rous mystic art arise,
Of painting SPEECH, and speaking to the eyes?
That we by tracing magic lines are taught,
How to embody, and to colour THOUGHT?”
― Marshall McLuhan, The Medium Is The Massage
FRIENDS AND COMRADES!
We are very excited to announce and invite you to our Exit Strata August CoCo [Collaborative Content] Salon this Sunday at SPACE SPACE in NYC, in which we will experiment with word/art games, sound, illuminated text, and work together to create interdisciplinary pieces for publication in the upcoming Exit Strata PRINT! Vol. 2 (as well as online dissemination via our growing multimedia channels and potential exhibition…stay tuned!)
We are particularly interested, for this issue, in creating visual work that engages with the shape and evolution of language as FORM — hence the Marshall McLuhan verse above. How does the way text looks or sounds or feels, its size or volume or shape or color alter the text even before (or after) it is “written”? Chew on that in the meanwhile!
Come meet, get inspired, enter metamind, and meet potential collaborators for your own work beyond the Exit Strata…
We’ve been getting a lot of questions on what participants should bring… and our answer is simply ART SUPPLIES. We will have a stockpile of art supplies available at the event, but feel free to bring pens, colored pencils, markers, paint brushes, magazines (for cut-outs), stencils, rulers, and anything else from your own private stash.
When: Sunday, August 19th
What time?: Noon to 5ish
Where it’s at: SPACE SPACE – 390 Seneca Avenue, Ridgewood NYC
The lovely folks at SPACE SPACE once again welcome us in their home for the day (Thank you Ada and Patrick!), which is just past the Bushwick border off the Jefferson or DeKalb L train stops.
The CoCo salon will be held from 12 pm – 5 pm (and can go longer/you don’t need to come to all of it but we’d love to see you there!)
PLEASE send us an email to RSVP so we know how many to expect:
THANK YOU FOR PLAYING!
