Since this project’s inception, all publications and media produced under The Operating System umbrella (and now via the Liminal Lab open learning platform) have used CC BY NC ND creative commons licensing — in order to ensure that sharing and access would always be fully legal for anyone who seeks to use or teach this work, while protecting project creators and readers.
Donations to support the OS and keep the library running are welcome but never required for digital downloads, and you are encouraged to support project creators however you can! Personal property, and personal accumulation is complicated for so many reasons (climate crisis among them) and this archive in part represents the OS project’s commitment to solidarity economies and prioritizing commons resource models however and whenever possible, as we not only imagine but build new cultural and interpersonal infrastructures.
