There are many ways that you can be a part of THE OPERATING SYSTEM community, at every level of financial ability — we are happy to have you online, reading the web content, and coming to events, which will always be at a sliding scale. You will always be able to submit your work at no cost to you.
However, sale of our beautiful books, annual subscriptions to all our publications, and tax-deductible contributions are what keep us afloat! We take great pride in maintaining a high level of craft and working with independent booksellers and printers (our print volumes are lovingly prepared and bound by Spencer Printing in Honesdale PA) – please let us know if you are interested in becoming a vendor or collaborating professionally with our community of artists and writers!
Equally important is staying in touch. Please subscribe to our mailing list for updates on events, new online content, and publications!
All of our publications are available for purchase directly through THE OS via our online marketplace. Just click on the image below!
If you’d like to learn more about our publications and contributors, please check out our current offerings here!
THE OS’s publications are in limited edition, and it’s simplest to purchase them directly through our marketplace.
You can also find us tabling at the annual Chapbook Festival, Boog City, and a plethora of other events!
However, we do work with the following beloved local booksellers to consign our most current volumes.
Berl’s Brooklyn Poetry Shop
Book Thug Nation
Housingworks Bookstore Cafe
Left Bank Books
McNally Jackson Booksellers
St. Marks Bookshop
and if you’re in Chicago, you can pick up Vol. 2 or Vol. 3 at QUIMBY’s!
Please let us know if an independent bookstore in your neck of the woods would like to carry any of The Operating System’s publications. We’ll throw in a copy for you for your efforts!
We are now accepting subscriptions for the full 2015 and 2016 catalogs. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to order today via paypal, and check back for direct purchase capability via this page soon.
The merch table at Exit Strata’s first launch (!) displays limited edition and standard versions of Vol. 1, collaborative broadsides with art from Kate Fire Dedlow and Leah Matthews, and two community chapbooks – Blood Atlas, from Lynne DeSilva-Johnson (editor), and Obsolete Objects of the Literary Imagination, from Sarah Pinder (contributor).
